I often overhear one student saying to the other, 'You help me, can or not?'
If we ignore the grammatical errors in the sentence or rather question, what the student wants to convey is clear. He wants to know whether his friend is able to help him.
The above sentence is actually the direct translation of Malay which reads 'Kau menolong aku, boleh tak?'
The above sentence should be rendered:
You will help me, won't you?
or
Will you help me?
