Your look can give you away

As a form teacher, I had access to my pupils' marks. I used to link the look of a certain pupil to his test marks.

On the average, those pupils who looked dull or dumb usually obtained low grades in exams and intelligent-looking pupils usually passed with flying colours.

From years of experience, I could tell any pupil's intelligence. However, as the saying goes 'looks can be deceptive' because a dull-looking kid can be smart and an a boy or girl with an intelligent look may turn out to be dumb.
